Baby Girl – Kaia

Babies always seem to do as they please! Lately I have had a lot of babies who decided to make their grand appearance to the world, a little early! This little girl in particular, we knew was going to be a little early. So we moved her session a couple weeks up, knowing that she would arrive before her due date. She, however, had plans to arrive EVEN earlier than expected. 3 weeks before her scheduled session, we were getting her in for a quick newborn session.

I have previously taken her mama’s maternity photos and her bigger sisters Easter and 5th year photos. I love photographing these sweet ladies and have now added one more to my list. During maternity photos, mama wanted some poses with my rainbow gown as her baby girl was her rainbow baby. A rainbow baby is a baby who is born after the previous loss/ miscarriage of a baby. The rainbow represents the journey after the storm.

I thought it was only fitting that we do a couple rainbow baby set ups for her new baby girl Kaia. She came into the studio absolutely sleepy. With a quick moment of getting her used to me, she slept like a champ for the first part of her session. She fussed a bit half way through, but a quick feeding and she was out for the remainder of her session.

If you have ever photographed a newborn, you know how important it is for them to be sleepy to achieve some of those infamous poses. She was so good to me!

Check out this preview from her session!

Mr. & Mrs. Hanson

Weddings are one of the most important moments of our lives. I remember my own wedding like it was yesterday. There are a lot of fleeting moments that I tend to forget about, but they were all captured and are printed for me to look back on. I feel like every couple needs to have a professional photographer for their wedding. Its a moment that you can’t recreate and will miss!

Saturday, I had the privilege of photographing Nicole and Kyle’s wedding at Turtle River State Park in North Dakota. Their ceremony took place in the Woodland Lodge and it was such a beautiful set up. We took some photos before the ceremony and again after. It was an absolutely beautiful day!

The bride was absolutely glowing and the groom was very dapper. They opted to have a first look and the emotions from that were absolutely beautiful. That moment when you see each other for the first time at your wedding, is something you never forget.

The reception took place at Muddy Rivers in Grand Forks. This place takes me back, as it is the same place that I had my reception 8 years ago. Center pieces were floating candles with printed out images. The decor within the reception was gorgeous! They offered their guests a delicious buffet, followed by cupcakes that supplemented their wedding cake.

Check out some images from their special day!

Senior Session – Brooke

Brooke and her mom had booked with me months in advance for her senior session. She is going to be in the 2020 graduating class! She is not from Grand Forks, but had heard some great things about my photography and loved my style! Brooke wanted to have some indoor images done, as well as outside. Since they weren’t familiar with the area, it was up to me to find the best place. All she knew is that she wanted some flowers in her images.

We started off with indoor photos. We had so much fun capturing her personality and wow, is she absolutely stunning?! She knocks the serious face out of the park! She also has the most gorgeous smile!

We got Brooke all changed up and headed downtown Grand Forks for some fun industrial like photos with all the different old buildings we have in town. This young lady is absolutely a natural in front of the camera. Check out this photo! I am pretty sure she could be a model!

Brookes one request was that we get some flowers or nature in the background for some of her photos. We took that trek over to University park and I found the perfect spot for her.

We had so much fun running around town to get her the best possible senior photos and she was absolutely in love with them all.

James is One!

I have had the privilege of photography Mr. James many times over the last year. He has done some fun mini sessions with me, and some milestones as well. His Grandpa and his Dad work/own a  construction company locally. Mr. James often takes pictures in a onesie promoting this business. What better theme for mom to choose for his cake smash than a construction type theme!!

As part of my “I want it all” Cake smash package, mom decides on theme, and I create the entire set up, including providing a cake from the local bakery in town, O’ For Heavens Cakes and More. I have been working with this baker for many years for my own personal occasions and now for business occasions as well! She has the best cakes, definitely look her up! James was recently found to have some allergies and a sensitive stomach, so he was provided with a Vegan cake.

When you think of construction, you think of bright oranges, yellows, and blacks! I created a handmade garland with these fun colors, added some Tonka trucks in, some balloons to match and some additional small details. This theme was so super fun and totally matched James personality and his families interests!

James arrived in his onesie and we did some individual images before changing him into his outfit for the actual smash part. He is a quick little guy. He kept crawling out of the scene so fast! Mom was definitely put to work chasing him down and putting him back in the scene.

We got him dressed into his smash outfit and set his cake in front of him. He enjoyed scraping the icing off and watching it fall to the floor. He wasn’t huge on eating though! At one point, he decided he wanted to knock over his cake and I caught the hilarious moment on camera. See the preview below!

We finished up his cake smash with a bubble bath session which is always included in my custom cake smash package. We had a ton of fun, as we always do for these sessions!

Mama to be – Amanda

Awhile back I posted looking for a discounted maternity model call. I really wanted to add some more unique maternity dresses to my collection. So I offered for some mamas to be to purchase these dresses rather than pay an actual session fee so that I could add them to my closet. In return, they would save money, as these dresses were lower priced than a typical session. Miss gorgeous Amanda volunteered to be part of this offer!

We originally scheduled her session for Sunday, but our awesome North Dakota summer weather offered us rain and gloom. We rescheduled for the following Thursday night in hopes of some beautiful weather and clear skies.

It could not have been anymore beautiful! The skies opened up, the sun beamed down and the temperature was absolutely perfect. Along with some solo images, she brought her lovely family; her husband and two children. We did some sweet family photos at Sertoma park using the bridges, trees and fields as our backdrop.

Amanda used two dresses for her session, one dusty lavender gown from Chicaboo, and then the dusty deep pink gown from Mii- Estillo that she offered to purchase. She looked absolutely stunning in both!

We spent a couple hours taking images until sunset. This sunset was probably one of my favorites recently, as it provided just the most gorgeous golden light!

I hope I get to see this family back for their newborn photos and beyond!

Here is a preview of Amanda in the dress she offered to purchase in return for a free session 🙂
